Job Title: Project Manager

Project Title: Inclusion in Somalia: Inclusive, Safe, independent and Responsive Feedback Tool

Location: Kismayo, Somalia

Job Type: Full time (40hr per week)

Duration: 12 months

Background and Overview

Marginalized Communities Advocacy Network – MCAN is a dynamic and mission-driven Humanitarian organization dedicated to serving marginalized and vulnerable communities in Somalia and Kenya. We expect you to be highly motivated and skilled Program manager who IS Native “Kizagua speaker” to serve our team and contribute to the success of our impactful programs. In partnership with Talk to loop and Minority rights (MRGI), MCAN intends to improve the delivery of aid and community feedback mechanism to the most vulnerable by Strengthening the relationship between the humanitarian agents and the local community. This project will focus on enhancing inclusivity, safety, independent and responsive feedback mechanism tool in lower Jubba Kismayo Somalia. It involves broadcasting, media, sharing of feedback tools, and disseminating of crucial information.

With that background, the Project Manager is expected to undertake the following roles and responsibilities for a period of 12 months. Among the key roles and responsibilities include:

Responsibilities:

• MCAN Kizagua speaker Project manager will the awareness raising and wider project

• He/ she will carry out outreach visits to communities.

• The project manager will oversee the radio broadcasts.

• The project manager will closely work with loop moderator to follow up with agencies and understand the bigger picture of the reports and as well which agencies should be responsible for any orphan reports.

• The project manager will write and share the quarterly or monthly report for information sharing purpose

• The project manager should engage the community in their language and dialect they feel comfortable with expressing.

• Help all project activities throughout the project life-span of twelve months.

• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of project activities

• The project manager is the focal point of the project sharing the challenges on daily post and pre-field debrief

• The project manager will coordinate with the project support team working alongside with Raagsan (Talk to loop) staff, MRG, protection and CCCM.

• The project manager will submit the narrative report prior the deadline

• To monitor project budget and monitoring progress quarterly

Other Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Implementation:

• Lead and oversee all project activities throughout the 12-month project lifespan.

• Conduct outreach visits to communities to raise awareness and gather feedback.

• Ensure project activities align with objectives and timelines.

Stakeholder Coordination & Collaboration:

• Work closely with the Loop Moderator to follow up on reports and identify responsible agencies for orphan reports.

• Collaborate with Raagsan (Talk to Loop) staff, MRG, protection, and CCCM teams for effective project execution.

• Engage with local communities in Kizagua and other relevant dialects to ensure clear communication.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly progress reports for information sharing.

• Submit narrative reports before deadlines.

• Monitor project budget and track progress quarterly.

Communication & Media Oversight:

• Supervise radio broadcasts to ensure accurate and effective messaging.

• Serve as the project’s focal point, sharing daily challenges in pre- and post-field debriefs.

Community Engagement:

• Facilitate discussions and feedback sessions in the community’s preferred language.

• Ensure inclusivity and accessibility in all project communications.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Project Management, or a related field.

• Experience:

• Previous experience in project management, community engagement, or awareness-raising programs.

• Experience working with humanitarian agencies, protection, or CCCM is an advantage.

Language Skills:

• Native fluency in Kizagua (mandatory).

• Fluent in English (both written and spoken).

• Knowledge of Somali Mahatiri or other local dialects is a plus.

Location: Must be a resident of Kismayo or willing to relocate.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including local communities and humanitarian agencies.

• Report-writing and budget monitoring skills.

• Problem-solving and adaptability in challenging environments.
