MCAN’s Mobile Teams Respond to Rising Health Needs in IDP Communities.

MCAN Enhances Health and Nutrition Services for Vulnerable Communities in hard to reach areas.

MCAN’s Health and Nutrition mobile and static site teams have significantly strengthened their daily routine services to better serve vulnerable internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities across the Hiraan region. The teams now provide expanded awareness sessions aimed at preventing the spread of communicable diseases, alongside offering rapid emergency responses and free diagnostic services to over 70 beneficiaries daily.

Dr. Hussein, the Health Team Leader in Hiraan, highlighted the growing demand for medical support due to increasing health concerns among the population. He emphasized the risk of health consequences impacting wider communities if timely interventions are not ensured. In response, he has formally requested urgent support from the Hirshabelle Ministry of Health, the Federal Ministry of Health, WHO, IOM, and UNICEF. The request specifically appeals for the provision of essential medical supplies and support for Tamaan Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Center in Sigalow, which remains a critical service point for the region.

MCAN remains first hand frontline responders providing life-saving health interventions to those in need and calls on partners and stakeholders to support the sustainability of these essential services.
